🧶 High-Jinks v4 iss 1 inside 🧶

Hello!

How are you? Two weeks into 2025 already! We still have a year-sized blank canvas laid out before us. What are you going to splatter yours with?

Block out one Saturday a month for a fun family outing? Give one of your rooms a makeover with your own handmade deliciousness? Get even more amazing at something you’re already doing? (I’m looking at you, Merry Mail!)

A fresh, crisp new year always gets the ideas flowing for me. This time I’m trying to set a realistic timeline for myself, so some ideas are impatiently waiting at the edge of their seats in the staging area of my brain.

Practically vibrating, ready to catapult the minute their number is called. I love starting new projects. Too much. Making myself wait means I’m getting other things done super fast. Wait— have I just found the only reward that will work on me? Once you’ve finished a current project you can bust out a shiny new idea to start on!

Anyway, I’m not even going to tell you what’s coming up because then I’ll want to start immediately and show you, too. 🤣🤪

This month’s issue of High-Jinks is below. It’s the first issue of Volume 4! You know what that means— Merry Mail is shipping soon! Big improvements to Merry Mail are in the works right now. Subscribe now and watch the changes unfold over the next few months. I promise it’s a fun open!

New Issue Out Now!

January’s High-Jinks involves all the cute accessories I have made and wish to make for rooms in my house. Winter is a good time to make your home cute for hibernation, right? Let’s do it!

Here’s a digital copy for you to download and print. Then watch this video to learn how to fold it.

If you’d like your High-Jinks served up on a silver platter, go ahead and subscribe to Merry Mail. I’ll personally print you a copy each month and put it in an envelope with some other fun flat things I’ve made, and send it right to your actual mailbox! It’s always a surprise what’s in your envelope, it can be stickers, coasters, bookmarks, and more. You know it’s going to be fun because it’s from me. And I’m fun. 🤣🤪 Check it out.

____________ of the week:

Pattern

Share a Pair! An oldie, but a goodie! Have you known me long enough to remember when I was dmw knits? Disaster Movie Worthy Knits! It’s still a concept I love. The idea behind these fingerless mitts is that when you’re in a disaster movie and you find another person to stick with, you have something you can share with them. They are 2 pairs of mitts that layer together and look adorable, but can also be worn separately.

Sticker

Camp Sherwool Forest! I love this cute sticker. I’ll never stop conflating knitting and archery. Sticks and string! What if we did a summer camp via email this year? The Handmade Holiday Workshop was so fun, I could do something similar this summer. Reply and let me know how you feel about it, then go buy a cute sticker! 🤣🤪

Bruno

🤣🤣🤣 I crack myself up! I always see things like this in my head. I have a whole series of my 4th child as a baby & toddler looking like different characters. Bruno loves being under covers and equally loves jumping up at every tiny sound. Therefore, I have a hundred pics of him like this. Everything he does is adorable— I can’t help myself!

3 cool things:

NOT COOL! I hope Chris has his contacts in when he goes for his mouthwash! 🤮😵

Look where my yarn-winding operations are taking place! 🤣🤪 You gotta do what you gotta do! I need my yarn caked up!

Bruno was quite helpful sewing my patch on. I am whipping up one more sample before I send you this free pattern. The final sample is almost done! Stay tuned next week!

That’s all I have for you this week! Stay tuned next week for a little behind-the-scenes of what I’m working on! If you need me before then, just hit reply and let me know what’s on your mind. In the meantime, stay crafty!

P.S. The ribbed hat pattern is still coming! I’m almost done with the last sample! The one I knit last week wasn’t exactly how I wanted it. 😬

Hello! How are you? I’m making slow but steady progress on my love/hate cardigan. I seriously can't wait to wear this thing! Bruno approves! Now onto the big news. I wasn’t kidding in that subject line. I’m done trying to monetize my knitting. I’ve been thinking about this for a long time, and the other day I had this feeling of knowing come over me. It’s time to let it go. ❄️ I added my first patterns to Ravelry over 14 years ago. At the time I had 3 small kids and I was looking for...

Hello! How are you? I have about a million pictures to share this week. It’s Behind the Scenes Week, and I’m very busy! 🤣🤪 Read on to see what I’m up to! Behind the Scenes Strawberry Lemonade is finished! Kind of. 🤣🤪 I still need to weave in the ends! The top one is the final version. What do you think? There’s so much cute fruit-themed stuff everywhere these days, I thought it would be fun to make our own! I’m not sure yet if I’m going to publish this as a paid pattern, or if I’m going to...

Hello! How are you? Crafting much? We’ve had a bit of sweater weather recently, so I’m doing great! I also have a long car ride later this week — you know what that means! 🧶🧶🧶 I don’t even know what project to bring! It’s glorious! Pretty soon, I’m going to start doing some tech editing for newer knit designers. So, if you’ve been sitting on your first knitting pattern because you’re afraid to send it out into the world, reply and let me know where you’re at. All the nerdy details involved in...
