🧶 I solved my bamboo problem!

Happy Friday! How are you? I hope you had some fun this week!

Guess what? I finally have a viable project going with the slippery, splitty bamboo yarn that matches my hair!

I switched to bamboo needles (coincidence?) and went up a couple sizes. Then I was able to get a mesh panel going pretty good. It’s just *yo, k2tog every row. Couldn’t be any easier.

The last bump in the road was that the join on my circular needles was grabbing every single yarn over and slowing me down. So I picked up some long straight bamboo needles and now it's pretty much smooth sailing.

I’m going to make a simple boxy mesh sweater out of 4 rectangles. I’m not using a pattern, just my body measurements and experience. I trust myself. I already have a skirt that’s going to be cute with it, so I’m highly motivated.

I’m relieved to be using this yarn for something. Now that my bamboo problem is solved, I’d love to hear what projects you’re hung up on. Maybe I can help. Reply and tell me about it!

Speaking of being highly motivated, I made a necklace, start to finish, this morning while I was still in my PJs. My mom gave me some beads in my favorite colors and I was dying to use them. Once I saw it coming together, I had to see it complete. Bruno was happy to keep me company:

Here’s the finished necklace:

I’m very happy with it.

All of the messing around with the bamboo yarn got me thinking. I kept trying different things and every attempt was miserable. It wasn’t until I switched to a way bigger needle than the yarn called for that I got decent results. I had to trust myself to break a rule and it paid off. So I wrote a little about my thoughts on the topic. The Knitting Police Aren’t Coming. Let me know what you think after you read it.

I hope you get to do what you want this weekend! I’ll be squeezing my knitting in during car rides!

Thanks for being here!

Hello! How has your week been? My week has been... how should I say it... eventful. 😬 To start with, Bruno had a botfly under his skin! It was disgusting and so sad. And it took some time for the vet to figure out what it was, so lots of cone time. I don't know if you can tell from photos, but Bruno has the neck of a giraffe. We tried a cone that was tiny enough to fit around his neck and he could reach right around it. Then we tried combining a stuffed donut with the little cone. No luck....

Hey there! How are you!?! I’m feeling invigorated this week! I took last week off for a staycation. After a long, lazy summer, I had some housekeeping to do. Fall is my favorite season, and September through December are my busiest/funnest months of the year. I like to head into this time prepared, so I can really enjoy it. Chris and I spent the week cleaning, hanging art, setting up the bones of my art studio, and getting out Halloween decorations. And we topped it off with a concert! We saw...

Hello! Friday again! How was your week? I have one more ear to put on my Cat Hat! Wait ‘til you see what I did. 🫣 When I took it out to finally finish, there were 3 sizes of needles in the project bag. And I, of all people, didn’t have a project sheet in there with the details! But I did remember taking a picture to show you my progress previously. So I got out the picture and all the needles in my project bag, and compared them! It actually worked!!! So then I started picking up the stitches...
