🧶 Learn from my mistake 🧶

Hello and happy Friday! I'm back from my trip and I brought back a knitting mistake to share! 🤣🤪

Only, I was too mad to remember to take a picture when it happened, so I recreated it as best I could for you.

You know how every knit in the round pattern warns you to be careful not to twist the stitches? We've all done it at least once and ended up with a mobius strip.

But have you ever managed to do it while knitting flat!?! Did you even know it was possible!?!

I'm working on a tank top that starts with the straps. I got to this point, but imagine the lower part only has like 3 rows done (connecting the back straps) instead of a few inches like in this picture.

I stick the project back in my bag and don't think twice when I pull it out later and keep going. Twenty-two rows later, I realize that it got twisted in my bag! It's obvious in this recreated photo, but I swear it wasn't at the time! 🤣 I didn't notice the twist because it had worked its way to the skinny, rolled strap.

I weighed my options and decided that I would never be happy if I tried to make the twisted strap a design element, so I frogged those 22 rows. There's no way I was going to let it happen again, so I pinned the two straps together and it worked like a charm!

I'm happy to report that I made it to the body of the tank top with no more trouble and am now mindlessly knitting stockinette in the round!

The other project I worked on this week was my usual scrunchie. I ran into a problem there, too. This was more a problem of laziness, though. I came across a frayed spot in the yarn and I couldn't reach scissors without disturbing Bruno from my lap. Obviously, I have priorities, so I tied this knot and kept on knitting. The whole loop is hidden inside the finished scrunchie and I have no regrets! 🤪

My Popcorn Ceiling cardigan is coming along nicely. I'm "blocking" the back and fronts right now. I'll share more on that next week! I did write a little about how I already know I'm going to love it. You can read it here.

Thanks for being here, I hope you get lots of knitting time this weekend!

Hat knitting project on the needles

Happy Friday! How was your week? I’ve been getting another travel-friendly knitting project ready. I won’t be bringing my Popcorn Ceiling sweater because it’s too big to pack. I’m on the first sleeve, though. Yay, progress! 🎉 I’m still working on the tank top, but you know it’s impossible to bring only one project on a week long trip! So I started a fingering weight ribbed hat. I’ll write it up and send it to you after I decide how I want to do the decreases. I’m picturing a fingering weight...

Happy Friday!!!! I got so much creative work done this week! What was your week like? Are you saving up your craftiness for the weekend? Reply and tell me all about it! First, here's a picture of my Popcorn Ceiling cardigan. Remember popcorn ceilings? And the mess they left on your bunk bed when you scraped your head or feet on them? Bunk beds did make it easier to reattch your glow-in-the-dark stars every time they fell off! You know the stars on this cardigan glow in the dark. The glowing...

Hello! How has your week been? My week has been... how should I say it... eventful. 😬 To start with, Bruno had a botfly under his skin! It was disgusting and so sad. And it took some time for the vet to figure out what it was, so lots of cone time. I don't know if you can tell from photos, but Bruno has the neck of a giraffe. We tried a cone that was tiny enough to fit around his neck and he could reach right around it. Then we tried combining a stuffed donut with the little cone. No luck....
